The Future of Investing in Regenerative Agriculture with Ricardo Bayon

If we are to solve the big social and environmental problems of the next decade, we will need to think differently about how we produce our food. Agriculture sits at the crossroads of many of the world’s major issues, whether it is climate change, water use, energy use, health, biodiversity loss, or even major social issues. If we are to address any of these problems, we will need to rethink agriculture. In other words, agriculture may be part of the problem, but it can also —it must also— be part of the solution.
Recently there has been a major social movement towards a form of agriculture that some call “regenerative”, a form of agriculture that not only doesn’t contribute to the problem, but is also building soil, capturing carbon, and feeding the world’s billions of people. But what does regenerative agriculture really mean, and how do we finance a transition from degenerative agriculture (the way much of our food is grown today) to something different and better?
This webinar will look at all these issues and more and will be based on work done by Ricardo Bayon and Encourage to try to answer a simple question: what sort of finance is needed to support this transition. It will draw on over a year’s worth of discussions with players up and down the value chain of regenerative agriculture, from producers and processors to distributors and end-users. Mr. Bayon draws on a wealth of experience in conservation finance working on issues of climate, carbon, water, solar energy, and more.
Join us for a discussion on these and other issues related to conservation finance.
