Nature's Returns Webinars

CFN and Yale Center for Business and the Environment are pleased to host our webinar series - Nature’s Returns: Investing in

The sum of value provided to people from the ecosystem and ecosystem structure. More recently, this definition has also included the ability of an ecosystem to provide goods and services, which has been assigned economic value to help in decision-making processes.

The benefits human populations gain from healthy ecosystems are vast. Clean drinking water filtered by forests, carbon stored in plants or soil, crop pollination by wild insects, and pharmaceutical uses of plants are just a few examples of services humans usually receive for free. Monetizing the value of ecosystem services presents an opportunity to protect these assets and bring their worth into the market. Conservationists and investors are hoping to achieve a win-win for the economy and the environment. Social benefits may also be included, leading to triple-bottom-line successes.
